2016 NYS Association for Bilingual Education Conference
The 39th Annual NYSABE Conference will seek to highlight current trends, research, and pedagogical practices in the field of bilingual education through its theme, Changing Policies, New Directions: Bilingual Education Paving the Way to Every Student’s Success. The Conference will take place in two locations this year: Buffalo and New York City. The NYC conference will be hosted by NYU Steinhardt's Metro Center. Educators (especially teachers of English language learners), parents, students, researchers, publishers, elected officials, and community-based organizations are invited to attend and to share their expertise. The day will focus on exploring new policies and best practices that develop and support bilingual education. Speakers include: Carmen Fariña, Chancellor of the NYC Department of Education; Betty Rosa, Chancellor of the NYS Board of Regents; Libia S. Gil, Assistant Deputy Secretary and Director, Office of English Language Acquisition, U.S. Dept of Education; and David Kirkland, Director of the Metro Center at NYU Steinhardt.
