Hidden in Plain Sight: Possibilities for Funding Quality Teacher Prep
What would it look like for aspiring teachers across the country to spend a year co-teaching alongside experienced, effective colleagues before entering the classroom? How could more students benefit from having two trained, dedicated adults inside their classrooms throughout the school year, providing them with attention and support? What would it take to make this the reality in New York State, and across the nation? Join the Sustainable Funding Project (SFP) at Bank Street College for a discussion that considers these and other questions about how to advance towards a healthy educational ecosystem that provides students a strong, equitable education. Drawing from two forthcoming reports based on the SFP’s national research on developing and sustainably funding high quality teacher residency programs, the event will offer panel discussions featuring local and national educators and advocates. Take part in the conversation about how high quality, sustainable teacher “residencies” can form a cornerstone of a healthy educational ecosystem for all students, exploring specific school-level strategies that can help advance this goal.
